Technostress poses significant challenges for individuals, impacting well-being and performance. Recent literature explored various individual responses to technostress, termed technostrain. Building upon this foundation, we conduct a systematic literature review of 32 publications from AIS Senior Scholars’ Basket journals to delineate the diverse manifestations of technostrain. Our analysis reveals that technostrain varies in form, context, and user impact. We identify three forms of technostrain, namely psychological, behavioral, and physiological, each investigated in either organizational or private contexts and eliciting positive or negative impacts on users. By categorizing technostrain along these dimensions, our study enhances the understanding of technostress and provides a basis for effective management strategies. Furthermore, we outline six avenues for future research to address identified gaps in the literature. Our findings offer valuable insights for researchers and practitioners, enabling organizations and individuals to better recognize, categorize, and mitigate technostrain through targeted interventions.

We have been conditioned and imprinted, much like Pavlov's dogs and Lorenz's geese, to mostly unconscious economic stimuli, which have become a global consensus and a global source of diseases.
